We3

Wed Jan 26, 2005, 10:42 AM
I know no one reads this but I'm going to say it anyway: We3 is the greatest comic book of the last ten years. It is perfect in every way and should set the standard for what comics will be in the future. Read it even if you don't like comics.

I find that my will to correct most message forum related trash has greatly diminished, but of course if people really had questions or wanted to ask advice of me, I would answer them. Those seals being slaughtered utterly mortifies me, though.

I thank you for the compliment on my photography; and I do know what you mean, I have also seen the output of my own universities photography program, and find them highly lacking, often.

I still have yet to see how everything will work out with my parents, but all may be on an incline at this point.

wow, gimmy and rajal, with no activity from you this place is really dead.

New Semester:

Monday--
Production I in the afternoon, this class scares me shitless, I actually have to do the technical aspect of making movies, the teacher seems cool though, I hope I can squeak out a C and move on to finish my film core.

Tuesday--
Doc and Social Change--Donald Sutherland teaches it, well not him actually but a guy who looks like him only shorter (although he told us that he once signed an autograph as Donald Sutherland).
Sci Fi Writing--Cool class.
:iconsickboy7:
yeah, school is busy.

i have no life.

all i do is read and do schoolwork.

Needed a new post up here.

The Nose parody (my statement on racism in America and quite a few other things) is almost done (12 text pages to go).

Still have 2 character bios for C and P, 4 pages about a shapechanger of some sort (at least) and other things to go.

Researching mesoamerica for a comic project, still no clear plot.

The Ankh? Dear god this has to be a case study on stories that will never be finished. I'm writing it in small sections, not sequentially. See Faust Part II.

Looking at grad schools, can't afford a single one (at least among the ones that I actually WANT to go to) and probably can't get into half of them with a bleeding 3.6 GPA (most ask for a 3.0 minimum, meaning I would need a 3.5 to be competitive). And of course none of them are remotely near me, except UC which i could not get into anyway, a few of which are in places I have never even been to.

D and D game is basically doomed to fall apart before the end of the semester.

Still no girlfriend.

And fucking summer coming up. I won't be living in the city, I'll be trapped in a fucking suburbs for 3 and a half months, having to be at the mercy of the fucking Metra which is never on time, no plans for anything adn I know absolutely no one (all my friends from school go home for the summer and the rest of them are in Louisville).

I fucking hate living here. Chicago is great, but lets face it. In the scheme of things in America, there's LA, there's NY and there's a big fucking lacuna in the middle that basically doesn't matter adn has no connexion with either.

And of the 4 stories I put up, 3 of them need major revision before they are relatively decent (Untranslatable Phrase just needs a real ending, not one I tacked on because it was due the next day).

And if Bush gets elected for 4 more years I WILL leave the country at the first opportunity, be naturalised as a citizen somewhere else adn never return. I can not in good conscience be part of something like that or passively stand by as he continues. I think America may lose 100,000 citizens if that happens (and the entertainment industry will basically move to Toronto and Vancouver, not just for production).

God my life is going well.

Nose parody is finished. At 40 manuscript pages, it is the 3rd longest thing I have ever written. The final versions of all my school projects (well most) will be up at the end of the semester.

My C and P film is about the gay marriage issue, how's that for a content risk?

Working on another story for Fiction II. This one is a Ballardesque tale where I took the most insane contradiction of terms I could think of and then plotted a logical and plausible course for it. Though i don't thinK i can top a totalitarian system based on leisure (pronounced the correct way and yes that really was in a J G Ballard story) or killing your parents for being too permissive, I will give it a go.

Working on my complete fantasy story. This one involves the existence of God as a fantasy idea and Jeffrey Dahmer (he's actually some other guy who is as close to Dahmer without using the real name as I can get, I wish David fucking Berkowitz was dead so I could make it a tag team though). Rest arrured true believer that the aviator glasses will be there.

Still no idea about grad school. So many of them look good. Unfortunately, the categories of "ones I want to go to" and "ones I can afford" and "ones near me geographically" and "ones I could get in to," well lets say there arent a lot that fall into two of these categories.

D and D game fell apart after 2 SESSIONS! It fell apart before anyone even reached second level, that has to be a new low of pathetic leadership even for me. In all fairness it was mostly indecision that killed it (after one person quit,I said that we would go on and then offered like 12 potential dates for the next one and no one replied). I don't think leadership is my strong point.

Still no girlfriend.

Book Recommendation--American Skin by Don de Grazia (and not just because he teaches at my school). One of the best books I have read in a long time and even though it loses something near the end, it is still a compelling read for 300 pages.

WORSHIP THE GROUND THEY WALK ON:

J G Ballard
Todd Solondz
Grant Morrison

D and D game hasnt totally fallen apart yet but its heading that way.

Started on a new novel, think of it as hardcore into my ideas of outsiders.

Probably going to make a website too (or something that should look similar to one).
:iconsickboy7:
